J. Gordon is the founder of JG Music Education. Gordon is a songwriter, vocalist, and vocal producer from Dallas, Texas. He studied Vocal Performance at the University of Texas at Austin and there founded Front & Center, one of the campus' top performing arts organizations. Gordon has been singing since the age of 5 and has been receiving formal vocal training since he was 14 years old. He specializes in teaching pop, R&B, and classical vocals. Some of his influences include Beyonce, Katy Perry, Brandy, and Billie Holiday. Gordon seeks to help each student he teaches understand their unique sound, and know that their voice has a place in the world of music.
Jamal Lamont is a vocalist from Columbia, Maryland. Jamal grew up singing in church. He has his Bachelor of Science degree in music and has studied with the world renown tenor Gran Wilson, jazz/pop genius Jeremy Ragsdale, and Grammy nominated music educator Terry Eberhardt. Jamal specializes in R&B, jazz, and soul music. He believes that music is life changing and he looks to impress its life changing powers on each student he teaches.
James Murray is a guitarist from Carson, California. He has been immersed in music since he was a child playing saxophone and studying theory in elementary school. James continued his education at UCLA studying music with guitar as his primary instrument. He has been mentored by jazz guitarist Flemming Robinson of the Flexx Band, and throughout his career has played for artists like Kevin McCall, Tay Walker, The Internet, Syd the Kyd, and has opened for J. Holiday. When teaching, James' focus is mainly on ear training, theory, and making the experience enjoyable for his students by finding fun ways to get them playing right away!
Shawn Skye is a vocalist and pianist from San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Texas State University with his degree in Music Education. Shawn has been singing and playing piano since the age of 14, however, his expertise extends past voice and piano. Shawn also has experience in acting, conducting, and musical arrangement. His inspirations range from Alicia Keys to Nobou Uematsu and he specializes in teaching an array of genres from classical, to jazz, to pop and R&B. What Shawn loves most about music is its ability to move and inspire people, and he looks to help each student he teaches understand and have that same love and appreciation for sound that he does.
Eric Lyn was born in Kansas City, Kansas the oldest of three children to Eric and Stacy Copeland. Before Eric turned two, he could be found tinkering with the keyboard and singing, and by four years of age was singing solos in pre-school programs and the church choir.
Lyn studied music at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, studying both classical and jazz music. Lyn was selected to be one of the historic and world renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers as a freshman and traveled the country performing and touching the lives of so many people through music. Now residing in Los Angeles, Eric is pursuing his masters in vocal performance at California State University, Northridge and performs for mainstream artist in the city as a background vocalist.
Los Angeles native Uriel Soto fell in love with music at a very young age. He developed an interest in piano and organ at age 9 and began formal training for them at age 10. His instructor, a Honduran musician, specialized is Salsa and Merengue, which heavily influenced Uriel's playing style. His love for music later spilled over into voice and he joined his high school choir as well as several indie bands throughout the city. It was in those bands that his interest in recording was peaked. Soto later went on to graduate from the Los Angeles Recording Connection Audio Engineering Program and now engineers sessions for artists like Kelis, TLC, DJ Paul and many more.
